Google's Bard, rival to popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT

Google has announced its AI-powered chatbot named Bard, which will be rivaling ChatGPT, an AI-powered chatbot that has grown in popularity recently. Within just two months after its launch, ChatGPT quickly became an internet sensation because of its unique abilities compared to other chatbots in the market. Because Artificial Intelligence is the core of its functioning, ChatGPT can do almost anything you can imagine. It can write you an essay, solve math problems, write content for your website or other platforms, or even code for computer programs. Because of such features, it quickly became the center of internet debates as many believed it to be revolutionary while others believed it to be a cheap way of using technology to do your work. However, after two months, it is now being seen as a threat to many people who work in areas such as writers, programmers, or similar. Now Google has entered into the race to rival ChatGPT with its AI chatbot, Bard.

Bard is Google’s take on AI-powered chatbots which are getting popular in the market. Bard is developed using Google’s programming language, Lamda. Bard is currently being screened by testers, after which, it will be released for the general public to use. Google also said that in the coming months, it will be releasing more AI tools to assist the users of Google as a search engine. Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, wrote about Bard in a blog. He said that Bard togetherly uses the vast pool of knowledge on the internet with Google’s large language models and its intelligence. He said that Bard and other AI tools will follow a vision to be bold and responsible.

Despite Google’s entry into the AI chatbot market, the question continues to exist surrounding the ethical implications of using AI chatbots for professional use. AI chatbots like ChatGPT have been accused multiple times of eliminating the skill gap between professionals and amateurs. Many have been using it to produce artistic pieces to win competitions or for their professions. Many are using it to do their homework without any elaborative work. The same goes for software developers who have been also relying on ChatGPT to provide a base for their programming work. Because of all these developments, many have been protesting over the internet to ban the use of ChatGPT for any professional or educational work.

But there is also another side to this as many have also supported the use of ChatGPT for providing a reference for their work. The argument is that AI chatbots can provide a base for them to use as a reference for their official use. Artists can use the content produced by AI chatbots as an inspiration to write their content. Programmers can use the code as a base for their software. And students can use the educational pieces produced by AI chatbots to gain more knowledge on subjects such as Maths. But on the global aspect, AI-chatbots are extremely useful for everyone and thus offer a great market for companies active in such a market. Now that Google, one of the largest tech companies, has entered the market and thus, AI chatbots seem to be here to stay.
